Homework for the core subjects of English and Maths will be sent home every week on a Thursday and should be completed and returned to school by the following Tuesday. English and Maths homework will be set to either revise an area which the children have previously been taught or to consolidate the skills they are currently working on.
In addition to the homework set on Tuesdays, children will also be expected to learn spellings and times tables – weekly tests will take place in school. Reading with your child regularly is also a great way to support them with their learning.
‘Exploration Homework’ will also be set at the start of each term – this homework will link to your child’s IPC topic and a number of challenges, tasks and activities will be suggested for your child to complete before the end of term. You do not have to stick to the suggested tasks; if your child wants to look at a different aspect of their topic please let them. Your child can be as creative as they wish when completing the ‘Exploration Homework’ – previously, we have received work which was word processed, PowerPoint presentations, models, paintings, poems, raps and even cakes!
Keep an eye on our Twitter account as we may well share your brilliant homework!
