Teachers Hannah Tibbs and Michael Knight from Compass Primary Academy are among 16 teachers from across the Brooke Weston Trust to secure places on the Teaching Leaders Fellows programme, a two-year course aimed at further developing high potential middle leaders.

This is the first time that the Trust has sponsored a number of staff to take part in the course that attracts high calibre staff from all over the country.

The programme is delivered by experienced educational facilitators and supports participants to become future leaders as well as improve educational outcomes. This group of staff will now work on individual Impact projects that will have real and measurable results in their schools.

Mr Knight and Miss Tibbs will be collaborating on their project. He said: ‘We will be focusing on Pupil Premium children to improve mathematics but we are also reflecting on the whole curriculum in a broader sense. It gives both of us the chance to look outside the classroom and have an impact on the whole school.’

Miss Tibbs said: ‘It is quite exciting and a great opportunity for us to do something that is going to impact the school in a positive way. Although we are working together we are focusing on different strands. Mike is going to prioritise the maths and I will be looking more at pupil premium and interventions. It has been an inspiring start to the course.’
