Homework is an important part of a child’s education and can add much to a child’s development and attainment. Homework includes a wide range of activities set by teachers and supported by parents to improve children’s learning.
Homework at Compass Primary focuses specifically on developing and improving key skills in reading and maths. There are also opportunities for children to learn from and use Knowledge Organisers to learn key vocabulary and events within the topic they are studying.
At Compass Primary, we appreciate that time is precious and with growing families, it can be difficult to manage multiple homework activities. With this in mind, this year we will be setting homework challenges that we would like the children to complete alongside family members. These will be set at the start of every half term, with the expectation that parents send in photos or pupils bring in their actual work for display.
Our projects are:
- Autumn 1 - Historical Figures
- Autumn 2 - Art Challenge
- Spring 1 - The Great Garden Bird Watch
- Spring 2 - Compass Primary's Big Walk
- Summer 1 - Super Science
- Summer 2 - The Compass Primary 'Recipe Book'
Throughout the phases of the projects, pupils will upload their work to Seesaw. Class teachers will respond by liking, or adding comments - where applicable. Pupils, throughout the term, can speak to their class teacher (or other adults) about their project and gain feedback during those conversations.
Keep an eye on our Twitter/Facebook account as we may well share your brilliant homework!
