How can IASS help?
IASS stands for Information, Advice and Support Service. In Northamptonshire, it is known as SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service).
What is IASS?
IASS is a free, impartial, and confidential service that provides information, advice, and support to:
- Parents and carers of children and young people (aged 0–25) with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND)

Children and young people with SEND themselves
The service is delivered independently of the local authority and is designed to help families understand and navigate the SEND system, including:
- Understanding the Local Offer

Accessing educational support

Navigating Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans

Exploring personal budgets

Resolving disagreements and accessing mediation services
What Support Does IASS Provide?

Telephone and email advice

Help with understanding reports and paperwork

Support with meetings and reviews

Advocacy for children and young people during the EHC process
